The League does not have funding <br />186 <br />for this type of program but there may be a couple of Commissioners that would be interested in <br />187 <br />attending. <br />188 <br />189 <br />New Business <br />190 <br />191 <br />a.Joint Meeting Items with City Council, Aug 25 <br />192 <br />193 <br />Ms. Collins reviewed the draft RCA and explained the structure was similar to last year’s. The <br />194 <br />Council wants to see the general activities and accomplishments for the year along with items the <br />195 <br />Commission is working on and would like to discuss. <br />196 <br />197 <br />Chair Groff asked that available Commissioners attend the meeting on August 25. This is an <br />198 <br />opportunity for Commissioners to explain what the Commission has been working on, what their <br />199 <br />goals are, and get feedback on what the Commission has done and the events they have attended. <br />200 <br />201 <br />Youth Commissioner Dao suggested adding the items the Commission is looking at including <br />202 <br />the Community Read and Civility Training. She would also like to see a discussion on voting <br />203 <br />rights for Youth Commissioners added to the discussions. <br />204 <br />205 <br />Ms. Collins stated she would look at the City’s By-Laws regarding the potential for voting rights <br />206 <br />for Youth Commissioners. <br />207 <br />208 <br />Chair Groff volunteered to present Immigrant Experience, Student Essay, and the Naturalization <br />209 <br />Ceremony to the City Council. <br />210 <br />211 <br />Youth Commissioner Dao volunteered to present the Rosefest Parade with the KOM Dancers <br />212 <br />with Commissioner Bachhuber. <br />213 <br />214 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber volunteered to present the Race Dialogue to the Council. <br />215 <br />216 <br />Ms. Collins asked if there were other work items the Commission would like added. The list <br />217 <br />includes exploring Civility Training, Community Wide Read, hosting another Naturalization <br />218 <br />Ceremony, and incorporating citizen recognition with the essay contest award. <br />219 <br />220 <br />Commissioner Slade suggested adding exploring mental health topics and discussions. <br />221 <br />222 <br />Commissioner Carey suggested adding the aging community and dementia as well. <br />223 <br />224 <br /> <br />
