Lee
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN 55113

Dear Ms. Lee:,

Wc'are asking for a minor variance of the Roseville Residential-Districts-City Code~- Specifically, we are
asking that construction of a garden shed be allowed to be two feet from our side property line rather
than the five feet required in Chapter 1004.01, Section. A, Part 2 of the City of Rosevillecode. We have
discussed this with the property owner affected by the shed and they concur (see written apporvaJ
enclosed) .

We have a few difficulties with our lot that do not.allow many, optionsJor our shedJocation_ Our lot, is 87
feet by 134 feet The widest section is along the west boundary of our property and is the drainage area
fOFwaterrunoff- from. snow melt, spring, rains, heavYorains, or runoff caused when. ~trains,and-the gf?und
is already saturated. At times, we have had a small fake in the lowest portion along this property line. In
thinking of an overall plan for our yardJhe-north sideis.the bestJocation for a garden_ Tbewater rupoff
issue would erode a garden as witnessed at the neighbors. The east property line does not have enough
sun for a garden due to the row of towering pine.treesaJong,the-.neighbor's propertyo.line. The.pineJrees
are another reason to place our proposed shed on the south property line. This area is not conducive to
growing. anything (not even grass!), becauseoUhe.pine~need!es.and_shade from.theJine_of.pine,tr~es.
We would like to place the shed as close to the property line as possible. We would retain our pleasant
and unobstructed view of the yard and~swingset ,from the. patio"ar~.

I
Thank you for your consideration of this minor variance to the city code.

Sincerely,

~~ {J[.
