LEXINGTON PARK NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING
1/19/99

Public Comments

· General
. What can be do to improve the appearance of the 2 acres during the interim?
· What part of the park are we planning, "vhich 6 acres?
· What has council ruled in or out?
. Don't like the idea of structurcs/building at the comer but if that's a given then a
public facility would be expectable.
· Can we explore alternate flUlding sources to increase the budget?
. Large public facilities tend to create additional litter that may blow into the
adjacent residents yards.
. Warming house personal need more control to assure the facilities arc shared
amongst all visitors
· Invitations to meetings need to reach a larger area.

· Paths
· Needed to be planned so they are functional and maintainable.
· Similar level of maintenance service as Lake Bennett.
· Will pathways be lit?
· Can we explore the idea of an exercise station loop
· Attention to safety by keeping them visible.

· Landscaping and Earthwork
. Create sound buffer along Lexington and County Rd B
. Maintain some of the broad expansive feel of the existing park
· Use native plants
. Include perennials and annuals to give park some colors
· Large cottonwoods may need consideration of reforestation.

· Play Equipment
· Desire a larger more expanded facility
· Attention to all ages groups

· Ice-skating
· Great amenity for the neighborhood.
· Would like to see free skate area improved.

· Basketball courts
· Seem to be dominated by older kids
. Half-court may be more appropriate.
