sections, an additional easement at the back side of the sidewalk may be required in order to provide
for additional street furniture and ornamental entry and fence strips.

Trees and specially painted street lights will be installed along all corridors and interior road systems.
The types of trees have been identified by the City Forester in the Street Tree Master Plan and a
uniform light standard will be adopted by the City for use throughout the Cornerstone street system.
The City will install any remaining or incomplete sidewalks, street furniture, trees, and lighting at the
time new buildings are completed along the road systems or along private road systems as a condition
of the permit I'\pprovals or as a part of the public improvements required within the new subdivision
of land. Transit stop locations will be constructed as buildings are redeveloped. Street graphics,
including street signs and regulatory information, will be standardized through the City's Public Works
Department.

Interior street systems should be thought of as more neighborhood and pedestrian-oriented, allowing
for buildings to set within 20-feet of the road right-of-ways (20 foot setback) and to have access to the
City's 6-foot wide sidewalk and 8 foot pathway system. Buildings constructed along the interior road
system should encourage well lighted mix use building entrances, window shopping, pedestrian
walking, sidewalk cafes, and other activities consistent within a more traditional Cornerstone area.
This may require that buildings facing the interior road systems have both a front access along the
street system and a rear access facing parking areas to the back of the building.

Pedestrian crossings will be painted on or paved within the surfaces of public and private streets.

Utility boxes, traffic signal control boxes, mailboxes, newspaper racks, and other elements required on
the street will be incorporated into the street treatment and painted accordingly. Each of these
improvements along the street should be subject to design review.

All curbs, sidewalks, handicap ramps, and roadway standards will meet or exceed the City of Roseville's
design criteria. The use of special textured pavement or imprinted concrete pavement must meet or
exceed the standards utilized in the city construction standards.

LIGHTING DESIGN

Lighting within Roseville Cornerstone is an intricate part of the design of the entire Cornerstone area.
A specific lighting standard will be adopted by the City of Roseville for its streets. as well as interior
private streets. This is simple one-bulb or two-bulb high pressure sodium 16-foot to 20 foot tall
standard which provides one-foot candle of light at 60 feet distance. On the public right-of-way, all
such lights are maintained by the City and NSP. On private property, individual property owners will
have to contract with NSP or other service providers.

The strength and amount of street and parking lights will be decided by the function of those lights.
Street lighting luminars should be consistent in design with those used in pedestrian-scaled lighting
along the road systems. The illumination from high pressure sodium lights should be uniform in color.
in intensity, and distribution. As older lights are replaced. the new high pressure sodium light systems

10
