The city is proposing to change the number of the lake from
62-49W to 62-49P. While it is our position that the "P" or "W" lettering makes no difference as far
as protection goes, we do not object to the listing of this basin as 62-49P in your ordinance. The lake
has a significant amount of shoreline that is publicly owned where public access is provided. The
designation of"P" seems appropriate.

We also do not object to the city maintaining the shoreland classification of"GD". We have reviewed
our records and find that the lake was appropriately classified as "NE" during the 1970's. The lake is
fully developed in a watershed that is also fully developed. The city is taking steps to improve the
water quality of this urban resource. If the shoreland classification of"GD" better serves the long tenn
management goals and recreational values of the lake, the DNR is supportive.

Thank you for allowing us to participate in the process to resolve the issues to better protect and
improve the basin.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 772-7910,

Sincerely,

..l..., c \ \~ ~''A. b (L't~

Molly C.
