With the advent of the Y2K concerns and the <br />most recent devastating tornadoes in the lovver Mdvvest and south, it seems very appropriate that the <br />City sponsor a community gathering to provide vital emergency preparedness information to the <br />citizens. In addition, the citizens need to have an opportunity be able to ask questions about their <br />emergency preparedness concerns. The City has scheduled a Community Emergency Iteadiness <br />meeting on June 24, 1999 at 7:00 P.~. at the Olympic Itoom at the Itoseville Skating Center. <br /> <br />Program <br /> <br />The program is expected to consist of a panel ofknovvledgeable staff and others from outside groups <br />such as the Ited Cross, Ftamsey County and Emergency ~edical Systems. This panel vvill not only <br />provide information about vvhat the City is doing, but can also provide a perspective on regional <br />planning. <br /> <br />Another particularly vital area vvhich vvill be covered throughly, is the area of personal emergency <br />planning. We vvill be providing information to the citizens on vvhat they can do in their homes to <br />better help themselves in preparing for tornadoes, vvindstorms, snovv and ice storms and Y2K. <br /> <br />The meeting is scheduled to be both telecast and taped for replay. <br /> <br />Council Action <br /> <br />~otion to encourage citizens ofltoseville to join together on June 24, 1999, to hear hovv the City <br />has prepared for emergencies and to gain information on hovv they can better ready their homes for <br />potential vveather and Y2K emergencies. <br /> <br />~(A <br />c; I)- 0\ <br />
