<br />. <br />. <br /> <br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF CITY COUNCIL <br />OF CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Roseville, <br />Minnesota, was held in the City Hall in said City on Monday, March 22, 1999 at 6:30 o'clock p.m. <br /> <br />The foHowing members were present: Mastel, Gcedeke, Maschka, and Wall and the following were <br />absent: Wiski. <br /> <br />Council member Wall introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 9642 <br /> <br />SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF THE HENNEPIN COUNTY REGIONAL RAIL <br />AUTHORITY AS THE LEAD PUBLIC AGENCY TO ACQUIRE RIGHT-OF-WA Y TO BE <br />ABANDONED BY THE BURLINGTON NORTHERN SANTA FE RAILROAD <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad is seeking to abandon 2.43 miles of railroad <br />from approximately Broadway Avenue in the City of Minneapolis to Walnut Street in the City of <br />Roseville; <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS, the proposed right-of-way to be abandoned is part of a rail corridor that connects <br />to existing and planned facilities important to future regional transportation; <br /> <br />ANTI WHEREAS, numerous public agencies have expressed a public need to maintain a right-of- <br />way corridor over the proposed abandonment for future trail and transit use; <br /> <br />AND WHEREAS, the majority of the proposed rail abandonment is located within Hennepin County <br />and the Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority staff have indicated a willingness to act as the <br />lead public agency responsible for acquisition of the rail right-of-way to be abandoned; <br /> <br />THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the City of Rose vi lie supports the designation of the Hennepin <br />County Regional Rail Authority as the lead public agency responsible for the acquisition of the <br />Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail right-of-way proposed to be abandoned in the City of Minneapolis <br />and City of Roseville, <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Mastel and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mastel, Goedeke, <br />Maschka and Wall, and the following voted against the same: none, <br />
