City of ~ Minnesota Community Development Department May 5, 1999 Dear Resident: During the month of May three meetings will be held on the concept of a City Center. This is a continuing planning process to detennine the future needs of the city. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, May lih. The City of Roseville Planning Commission will hold a hearing to gain public comment on the proposal by the City Center Task Force to amend the City's Comprehensive Plan - a long range view (up to 40 years) of what area should be included in the future city center district. Pathways from the adjoining neighborhoods to the City Center also may be proposed. The recommendations from the Task Force are attached. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, May 20th. The City Center Task Force will seek additional comment on the mix of features that should be included within the City Center. In addition to the existing uses in the area, three new primary uses are proposed: a government center for local government, a community center with meeting spaces; and/or a recreation center with more recreation facilities. The third meeting is the City Council meeting to be held on May 24th. The City Council will review the comments from the other two meetings and consider next steps in the planning process. All meetings begin at 6:30pm in the City Council Chambers, 2660 Civic Center Drive. Attached are the descriptions of the City Center Concept and the notes from the last Task Force meeting. Also attached is a list of the citizens on the City Center Task Force and the City Planning Commission. If there are questions, feel free to contact me.
