What is needed is a 21 st century model for what a City Center can be. The John Rose Oval and Ice Arena are fixes. The new City Center should be a multi-use facility based on a public/private partnership. The existmg layers of government can be an asset and resource: State, County, Government Center, Cable Communications - Productions, Media One There needs to be points where City Council and the Task Force interface. We need to have forward thinking. Unsure how the VFW can fit into the City Center? Web site can be a way to communicate the City Center process to the community - Jerry Beck is responsible for the City of Roseville web page. Density is okay. The City Center needs to have diversity. "Think Big" - This is our challenge. Roseville City Center will be so successful that it will be featured on the cover of national magazines. We need to think of possibilities not problems. We need vision and excitement. Ifwe are going to do it, let's do it right. Put in all the extras. Langton and Acorn Parks are examples of the City providing a good quality facility. The City is set with park land and now needs to focus on bringing them up to standards The City needs some signature pieces as part of the park system. Central Park is one of the great assets ofRoseville. It is one of the busiest parks in the metro area. Centennial Lakes could be a model for Roseville City Center Vail, Colorado has done a good job at creating a walkable and exciting city center. The City Center needs to be more than a government center. The City has done a good job at redevelopment of the 18 acre school property south of Lake Owasso for new housing. City and residents need more meeting rooms. A new public safety building is needed. The City Center should have a mix of uses. A public/private partnership is also important. The community has a building height phobia. 10-12 Stories would be maximum acceptable. ~f6 \~~L'
