June 11, 1999 Mr. Edward Her 2771 Woodbridge Street Roseville, Minnesota HE: Request for Setback Variance to reduce driveway access point Dear Mr. Her: The Planning Commission, at their meeting ofJune 9, 1999, reviewed your application for a 22.8 foot variance from Section 703.04 of the City Code to reduce the required driveway access point setback from 30 to 7.2 feet. Based on staff findings outlined below, the Planning Commission recommended your request be approved: Section 1013.02 requires the applicant to demonstrate a physical hardship and to demonstrate that no practical alternatives exist that would reduce the need for a variance. Relocating the access point to meet the 30 foot setback may impact two mature trees and potentially require their removal. Requiring the driveway access point to be adjusted in any capacity would require major modifications to the existing driveway as it extends to the garage. The proposed variance, if granted, will not adversely affect the public health, safety, or general welfare, provided standards/conditions are attached to insure that redevelopment of the site is completed in accordance with the plans proposed by the applicant. Your application, together with the Planning Commission's recommendation, will be forwarded to the City Council for final action on Monday, June 29th. The Council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., and is held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
