May 9, 1999

City of Roseville
Ms. Debra M. Bloom, Assistant Public Works Director
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN 55113

Dear Ms. Bloom

This letter is in response to the letter I received on April 20, 1999 concerning the "STREET
RECONSTRUCTION, CITY PROJECT P-99-02-23." This reconstruction would cause a great deal of
hardships to my family, and I am requesting that the city ofRoseville grant me a variance from the city
codes.

I am requesting a variance for the following reasons.

1. The drive way have been in existence since the building of the house back in 1961.
2. The relocation of the drive would go through the front of the lawn and would require me
to do major landscape work. This is especially hard because I just recently planted a
couple of trees and shrubs and the relocation would force me to remove a couple of
matured pine trees that have been there for a long time.
3. The position of the house is in a way that it is not parallel to the street and by moving the
drive way it would make it difficult to get access to the garage.
4. The relocation of the drive would cost a lot money and currently my fmancia1 position
can not allow me to have the extra money to spend on relocating the drive way.

Because of the above reasons, I would like to request the city of Roseville to please grant my property for a
Variance of City Code.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 651-639-4096 at work. Thank you in
advance for your consideration of my request.

Sincerely n

.~L:L~~

Edward S. Her
