<br />*Editor's note--Section 1 ofC.F. No. 93-1755, adopted Dec. 9, 1993, repealed 99 331.01--331.44 of
<br />this chapter, relative to food licenses, and 99 2--25, 26 and 27 added similar new provisions as 99
<br />331.01--331.27 of this chapter. Formerly, such provisions derived from 99 291.01--291.39 of the city's

<br />Sec. 331.01. Purpose.
<br />
<br />The purpose of this chapter is to establish standards to protect the health, safety and the general welfare
<br />of the people of the City of St. Paul pursuant to powers granted under Minnesota Statutes, Sections
<br />145A.Ol--.14, and 375.51--.55.
<br />
<br />These general objectives include the following:
<br />(1) Prevent food-borne illness.
<br />(2) Correct and prevent conditions that may adversely affect persons utilizing food establishments.
<br />
<br />(3) Provide minimum standards for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of food
<br />establishments.
<br />
<br />(4) Meet consumer expectations of the safety of food establishments.

<br />
<br />Sec. 331.02. Scope.
<br />
<br />This chapter shall be applicable to all food establishments such as, but not limited to, restaurants,
<br />bakeries, grocery stores, butcher shops, boardinghouses, drive-ins, bars, taverns, cafeterias,
<br />delicatessens, pastry shops, caterers, cafes, clubs, lodges, commissaries, children's camps, lodging
<br />facilities, resorts, private schools, public buildings, public schools, group day care facilities and similar
<br />businesses and establishments where food, meals, lunches or beverages are prepared or served for
<br />consumption on the premises or immediate consumption off the premises.
