<br />I <br /> <br />20. Ground Water - Potential for Contamination: <br />a. Approximate depth (in feet) to ground water: <br />Minimum: 0 feet Average: 10 feet <br /> <br />1 <br />l <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />Describe any of the following site hazards to ground water and also <br />identify them on the site map: sinkholes, shallow limestone <br />formations/karst conditions, soil with high infiltration rates, <br />abandoned or unused wells. Describe measures to avoid or minimize <br />environmental problems due to any of these hazards. <br /> <br />Recent soil boring logs indicate that sand is a significant component of <br />soils on the site. Many borings encountered surface layers of sand and <br />subsurface layers with sand lenses. Sand has a fairly high infiltration and <br />percolation rate, which could allow downward movement ifhazardous <br />materials are spilled on the soil surface. <br /> <br />There are no abandoned or unused wells on site. All abandoned or unused <br />wells were closed during environmental clean up of the site associated <br />with the 1985 plan. The closure of abandoned wells is documented in <br />Appendix B. <br /> <br />Such a potential hazard would be minimal after site development since <br />work areas will be converted to impervious surface. Remaining areas will <br />be landscaped, with layers of soil and sod added. These actions will <br />significantly reduce the risk of hazardous materials contaminating <br />groundwater. <br /> <br />c. Identify any toxic or hazardous materials to be used or present on the <br />project site and identify measures to be used to prevent them from <br />contaminating ground water. <br /> <br />The proposed uses for the site are corporate campus, including a cafeteria. <br />These uses do not produce or handle toxic or hazardous materials. <br /> <br />J <br />J <br /> <br />21. <br /> <br />Solid Waste: Hazardous Wastes: Storage Tanks: <br />a. Describe the types, amounts, and compositions of solid or hazardous <br />wastes to be generated, including animal manure, sludge and ashes. <br />Identify the method and location of disposal. For projects generating <br />municipal solid waste indicate if there will be a source separation <br />plan, list types (s) and how the project will be modified to allow <br />recycling. <br /> <br />Page 19 <br />
