<br />.' <br /> <br />Roseville Demographic Characteristics <br />A View of the 15 Planning Districts <br /> <br />Prepared: November, 1999 by City of Roseville; Insight Mapping and Demographics <br /> <br />Sources: January, 1999 infonnation from Roseville and Mounds View School Census Data; Ramsey <br />County Data; City Utility Billing Data; State Drivers License and Vehicle Registration Data Bases. <br />Population within institutional housing is excluded (colleges, nursing homes, detention center, etc.) There <br />is an undercount of pre-school children, <br /> <br />Planning District 1-1999 Demographic Characteristics <br /> <br />Planning District 1, with 879 residents and 460 households, has a relatively young and <br />mid age pc>pulation, with less than 10.5% over the age of 65. The percent of head of <br />households under the age of 35 is 21 % whereas only 13% are age 65 or more. <br />Households containing two parents with children represent approximately 12% of the <br />total households in the district. The average persons per household is 1.91; 78% of the <br />households have 1 or 2 residents. Homeownership is 55%; renters make up 45% of the <br />household - this is 13% higher than the city as a whole. More than 71 % of the residents <br />have lived in their current home 9 or more years. Over 57% of the homes were built at <br />least 30 years ago. Only 37% of the housing units are single family detached; 28% are <br />apartments. <br /> <br />Planning District 2 - 1999 Demographic Characteristics <br /> <br />Planning District 2, with 1,458 residents and 671 households, has a relatively older <br />population, with more than 23% over the age of65. The percent of head of households <br />under the age of 35 is 7% whereas 51 % are age 65 or more. Households containing two <br />parents with children represent approximately 17% of the total households in the district. <br />The average persons per household is 2.17; 72% of the households have 1 or 2 residents. <br />Homeownership is 63%. More than 69% of the residents have lived in their current home <br />9 or more years. Over 62% of the homes were built at least 30 years ago. Over 62% of <br />the housing units are single family detached; 33% are apartments. <br /> <br />Planning District 3 -1999 Demographic Characteristics <br /> <br />Planning District 3, with 3,205 residents and 1,764 households, has a relatively older <br />population, with more than 22% over the age of 65. The percent of head of households <br />under the age of 35 is 24% whereas 28% are age 65 or more. Households containing two <br />parents with children represent approximately 11 % of the total households in the district. <br />The average persons per household is 1.82; over 80% of the households have 1 or 2 <br />residents. Homeownership is 56%. More than 68% of the residents have lived in their <br />current home 9 or more years. Over 56% of the homes were built at least 30 years ago. <br />Over 42% of the housing units are single family detached; 48% are apartments. <br />
