As you are aware, I am a member of the proposed Family Academy Charter School working with Pat Borgman of Kraus-Anderson. Our goal is to open the Charter School for the Fall 2000 school year. In order to do so, it will be necessary to begin an interior renovation no later than May 15th. Kraus-Anderson anticipates approximately 90 days to complete the build-out. Upon receipt ofthe application, and assumption that the planning commission issues a recommendation on our request to re-zone the Hamline Shopping Center, I am writing at this to request the City Council waive the first reading and hold a second reading to process at the '~~. s~hedu1ed public cOWlcil meeting set for April 24m. I am also requesting that you verify with the City Attorney whether or not a pennit could be issued on April 25th, without the 10 day review . , process, to allow us to begin an interior build-out as soon as April 25th. ~. . -~ ~-, - -- ~'~~~~~,ASTmentioned, Pat Borgman is out of town until Thursday, March 9th. I intend to meet with him tomorrow and complete the necessary application to submit to the City, along with the appropriate fee of $750.00. It is also our intention to have the properly completed architectural documents delivered to Don Monson by Aprill st. Time is of the essence for Family Academy to have the re-zoning issues approved by the City Council. We are willing to do whatever it takes to expedite the re-zoning process to allow Kraus-Anderson to begin a build-out by May of2000. .DO .~.~.
