<br />Population Forecasts <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Council forecasts a population of 19,000 people for - in the year 2000 <br />and 19,500 people in 2010. These figures represent an increase over the 1990 and 1995 <br />numbers. Total households are also forecasted to increase from 7,771 in 1995 to 7,800 in <br />2000 and 8,000 in the year 2010. Using a standard vacancy rate of5 percent, the total <br />number of housing units needed in - will be 8,190 in 2000 and 8,400 in the year 2010. <br /> <br />It is also of interest to note that the Metropolitan Council has forecasted considerable <br />employment growth in -, from 4,536 jobs in 1990 to 6,100 jobs in 2010. The percentage of children ages 0 to 17, which had declined <br />between 1980 and 1990, will increase ITom 21.8 percent in 1990 to 24.3 percent in 2010. <br />Young adults, ages 18 to 24, will also increase a little, ITom 9.3 percent in 1990 to 9,9 <br />percent in 2010. <br /> <br />7 <br />
