I contacted the family of the woman who owns the
property to discuss the sale. The owner moved into a nursing home and her son-
in-law and daughter are handling her affairs.

This property is listed on the master plan for Langton Lake Park to be acquired.
This is one of three homes to complete the master plan. These parcels are
needed in order for the City to complete the trail linkage. The vision that was
adopted in the master plan was to provide an active trail and quality green
space/open space along the entire perimeter of the lake/park.

The family indicated they had been given a rough estimate of $160,000 for the
property. The home is a 3 bedroom that is approximately 25 years old.

I believe that options such as an inter-fund loan, PIP etc might be used to make
this critical purchase. If we do not acquire the property at this time, the
opportunity will be pushed off well into the future and the cost will escalate
significantly.

The family asked that they be notified of the City's intensions as soon as
possible.

"PARKS AND RECREATION- THE BENEFITS ARE ENDLESS"
