REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 10/06/2014 <br /> Item No.: 7.g <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Consider Approving an Amendment to the Lease Agreement with T-Mobile <br />Central LLC at the Fairview Avenue Communications Tower <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />On July 22, 1996 the City of Roseville entered into a lease agreement with APT (now T-Mobile Central <br />2 <br />LLC) to allow APT to lease space on the city-owned communications tower located at 2501 Fairview <br />3 <br />Avenue adjacent to the water tower. The current lease expires at the end of this year. <br />4 <br />5 <br />Over the past several months, City Staff and T-Mobile have been in discussions on renewing the lease for <br />6 <br />another 5 years with the option to extend it further up to 15 years. The Amendment is included in <br />7 <br />Attachment A. <br />8 <br />9 <br />Under the Agreement, T-Mobile agrees to pay $2,430.98 per month, or $29,171.75 per year beginning in <br />10 <br />2015. The lease amount essentially picks up where the old lease left off, and will be adjusted by 3% each <br />11 <br />year moving forward. The amount is very favorable considering rents being paid in surrounding areas. <br />12 <br />13 <br />City Staff will be available at the meeting to address any questions. <br />14 <br />PO <br />OLICYBJECTIVE <br />15 <br />The proposed Amendment and underlying lease agreement is consistent with City Code requirements for <br />16 <br />co-locations of wireless service providers as well as past practices.
