Plannine File 3237: Request by Family Academy for an Interim Use <br />Permit for portable classroom facilities in the eastern parking lot of <br />Advent Lutheran Church, 3000 Hamline A venue. <br /> <br />Chair Klausing opened the hearing and request City Planner Thomas <br />Paschke to provide a verbal summary of the project report dated July 12, <br />2000. <br /> <br />He explained the site plan and need for three-year interim use for class <br />room space. The 9000 s.f. structure proposed was illustrated; K-4 inside <br />the church, 5-8 outside the building in the east parking area. The parking <br />lot would be reduced by 56 spaces. <br /> <br />The building will be connected to the existing church. <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked whether the church was at capacity and whether the <br />facility will be sprinkled. <br /> <br />Member Egli asked if the church owned property to the east (yes). What <br />are sign details and can signs be consolidated. <br /> <br />Member Cunningham asked if the modular building could be placed on <br />the grassy area to reduce the need for parking. (It could be placed there, <br />would create more impervious space). <br /> <br />Chair Klausing asked about curb requirement along the east side of <br />parking and would the interim structure require curbs (no). <br /> <br />Member Wilke asked for details regarding access point for sewer and <br />water (It would not trigger re-pavement). <br /> <br />Ms. Carol Koski, representing the Academy School, described the need <br />for interim space if the Academy School had a lease for a portion (but not <br />all) of the church. In the next week the Academy will make a decision on <br />the full use of the site. <br /> <br />Member Olson asked for details of the possible expansion of the wing of <br />the church for four more classrooms and a multi-purpose room. <br /> <br />Member Mulder asked if the request would be withdrawn if lease space <br />was available (possibility). <br /> <br />Chair Klausing closed the hearing. <br /> <br />Member Wilke requested that the Fire Marshal inspect the site. <br />
