CITY OF ROSEVILLE
ORDINANCE NO.

An Ordinance Amending
Sections 10002.02, Definitions, Of The Roseville City Code
Clarifying The Definition Of A Lot Line, Front.

THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE DOES ORDAIN:

Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to update and clarify the City's
definition of a Lot line, Front. The intent of the amendment addresses the current interpretation
of this definition and the requirement of Section 1004.02D4 of the Roseville City Code.

Section 2. Findings. In considering the amendment, the City Council made the
following findings:

1. The City has traditionally interpreted the City Code (Zoning Ordinance) as
requiring a front yard setback to each property line adjacent to a street on a comer
lot.

2. Section 1004.02D4 states: "a side yard adjacent a street on a comer lot shall not
be less than 30 feet."

3. The City has traditionally interpreted Section 1004.02D4 to require the front yard
setback to all permitted, conditional, and accessory structures, as well as fences
and outdoor storage.

4. Comer lots should be treated as having two front yards because they front two
public streets.

Section 3.

Amendments. Section 1002.02 is hereby rewritten as follows:

Definitions:

LOT LINE, FRONT: That boundary of a lot which abuts a street, and in the case of a
comer lot, it shall be the shortest dimension on a public street. Should the dimensions be
equal, the owner shall designate the front for the record. In the case of a comer lot both
property lines abutting a public street or right-of-way on a comer lot shall be considered
front yards.

Section 4.
publication.

Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect on passage and

Passed this _ day of September 2000.

1
