<br />REQUEST FOR PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION <br /> <br />DATE: 11/08/00 <br />ITEM NO: <br /> <br />Department Approval: Manager Approved: Agenda Section: <br />HEARING <br /> <br />Item Description: A request by the City ofRoseville to amend Section 1004.01A (Accessory <br />Buildings in Residential Districts) for the purpose of clarifying rear yard <br />area and square footage maximums. (PF 3270) <br /> <br />1.0 REQUESTED ACTION <br /> <br />1.1 The City of Roseville, through the Community Development Department, has requested <br />an amendment to Section 1004.01A of the Roseville City Code pertaining to accessory <br />buildings in residential districts. <br /> <br />1.2 The proposed amendments to Sections 1004.01A1 Number Allowed, 1004.01A5 Size <br />Limits, 1004.01A8 Driveway Required, 1004.01Al1 Overall Area, and 1004.01A12 <br />Requirements for Increased Maximum Size attempt to provide clarity to language that is <br />confusing or ambiguous to the citizens of Roseyille. <br /> <br />2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> <br />2.1 Section 1004.0 lA1 reads: Number Allowed: Each residentially zoned or used parcel shall <br />be allowed one accessory building and one storage/tool/garden shed. <br /> <br />2.2 Section 1004.01A5 reads: Size Limits: The size of an accessory building shall be limited <br />to forty percent (40%) of a required rear yard area, up to a maximum size of eight <br />hundred sixty four (864) square feet. The one allowable storage/tool/garden shed shall <br />not be included in this area or coverage requirements, provided said storage/tool/garden <br />shed does not exceed one hundred twenty (120) square feet in area. If an existing <br />storage/tool/garden shed exceeds one hundred twenty (120) square feet in area, that <br />portion of the building over one hundred twenty (120) square feet shall be included in the <br />area and coverage requirements for an accessory building. (Rear yard is defined in <br />Section 1002.02 of this Title as that portion of the yard on the same lot with the principal <br />building, located between the rear building line as specified in the yard regulations for <br />the district in which such lot is located and the rear lot line and extending the full width <br />of the lot.) <br /> <br />2.3 Section 1004.01A8 reads: Driveway Required: Any accessory building capable of storing <br />one or more motorized vehicles shall be provided with a hard-surfaced driveway to an <br />adjacent public street, unless the primary purpose of the building is for equipment, <br />materials, or nonvehicle storage. <br /> <br />PF3270 - RPCA (110800) Page 1 of 4 <br />
