The Livable Communities Act created the
Metropolitan Livable Communities Fund which provides money to clean up polluted sites, expand
affordable housing opportunities in the region and demonstrate compact, mixed use development.

The report to the Legislature must include data on all communities in the Metropolitan Area,
regardless of their participation in the LCA. Each year the reoort includes information on tt:le
E:oduction and cost of new housinQ in each community and an update to the previous year's
'!ymQJS:'I'Y of lor.::!1 policies official controls and proq[ams desigJJ.e.dJ.o...aclJiev~ LCA 99als. ..
Information from the report will be used to assist in making a broad range of regional policy and
investment decisions.

Once again, we ask that you complete the enclosed survey to help us comply with the reporting
requirements of the law. We appreciate the effort each of you has made in the past to complete
our survey. Our goal is to use a comprehensive and objective reporting method that will not
impose an excessive data collection burden on local staff.

To ensure that information for your community is included in the 1999 report card, we need to
receive your response no later than Friday, May 28, 1999. If you have questions about the survey
please call me at (651) 602-1332.
