<br />9. Highway 36 Quality of Life Improvements- landscaped berms and sound barriers. The <br />City received a grant from MnDot. Current improvements are being completed at Rice <br />Street and Highway 36. Additional funds and improvements are anticipated. <br /> <br />10. Neighborhood Commons - Improving the Quality of Life on Shared Boundaries <br />- A grant request has been submitted by the Cities of Arden Hills, New Brighton, <br />Roseville and Shoreview for the development plans along the common borders at <br />County Road D. <br /> <br />11. The Water Works - Currently this site has been purchased by the City with park funds <br />and the improvements are scheduled for 2000-2001. <br /> <br />12. City pathways - Currently pathways are being constructed around Langton Lake and <br />the connections from Lake McCarrons, through Water Works to Pioneer Park is <br />planned for 2000-2001. Both projects are being paid for with park funds. <br /> <br />13. The James Addition - new mixed-use neighborhood redevelopment project at Oakcrest <br />and Snelling. The neighborhood task force submitted a master plan in 1998. It is <br />expected that proposals from developers will be reviewed in late 1998, early 1999. <br />Additional funding for transit access and housing may be requested. <br /> <br />14. Pioneer Park Design and Construction - land has been purchased and the <br />improvements are scheduled for completion in 2000 funded by the City park fund. <br /> <br />15. Senior Housing Opportunities - Roseville completed a senior housing market study in <br />1998, which revealed the following. <br /> <br />There is a low percentage of Roseville residents in designated senior housing. <br />There is a larger percentage of seniors in Roseville than the state average and the <br />population is expected to continue to grow. <br />Roseville seniors are slightly more affluent than seniors in the surrounding <br />communities, including St. Paul. <br />There is a high occupancy rate in existing Roseville senior housing complexes. <br />Focus group discussions revealed that there is a need for more affordable senior <br />housing for Roseville seniors, that Roseville is a desirable location for seniors to live <br />and that public transportation available next to senior housing is important. <br />Affordable senior housing is best developed in collaboration with an experienced <br />social or institutional sponsor. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that additional funding will be needed to enable the development of <br />needed affordable senior housing for RoseviIle residents. <br /> <br />Q:\LivabIe Communities\LivabIe Communities Action Plan - 99.doc <br /> <br />11 <br />
