Human Rights Commission Minutes September 17, 2014 Page 5 of 10 Commissioner Singleton stated he is supportive of the concept but would want to see more details on how Commissioner Bachhuber would want to proceed and if she would want someone to work on it with her. Ms. Collins stated the Commission has several ideas at this time and she would recommend the Commission focus on a couple of these at this time. Since there is not a good platform for the Community-Wide Read the Commission could focus on the other programs they have talked about. Commissioner Carey suggested leaving this as a program the Commission could come back to in the future. Vice Chair Becker stated the Community Engagement Commission is currently evaluating a community engagement module for the City’s website. If the City opts for this type of add-on there would be an opportunity for residents to post information for other residents to respond to. This could be a platform that is used to start this type of program on a small scale and it could be worked into other programs the Commission is working on, such as the book the Civility training is based on. b.Civility Training Update Commissioner Carey stated there has not been a lot of progress since the last meeting. The Roseville Community Fund grant application requires a signature then it will be sent in. She had also reached out to the Roseville Rotary Club and they have forwarded the information provided to them to their president for consideration. She stated she would be meeting with Kari Watts, to discuss partnering with the Roseville Library. They are interested in partnering with the HRC but it is not clear what that would look like at this time. Commissioner Slade asked what the cost of the Civility Training would be. Commissioner Carey stated the cost is $50 per person with a minimum of 40 people and a maximum of 60 people. If there are less than 40 people then the Commission would have to cost share expenses with the organization. Vice Chair Becker asked when the Roseville Community Fund grant awards would be announced and what would be the maximum amount the Commission could receive. Commissioner Carey stated the Committee meets four (4) times a year and August 1 was the last cut off. If she is able to get the application sent soon it would be considered in November/December. The maximum amount the Commission could receive would be $2500.00 Ms. Collins asked if the HRC would be interested in partnering with Community Engagement Commission as a way to enhance the grant application.
