89 Recycling Operations
90 The recycling operation provides for the contracted curbside recycling pickup throughout the City and
91 related administrative costs. The primary operating cost is the amounts paid to a contractor to pickup
92 recycling materials.
93
94 The following table provides a summary of the 2014 and 2015 (Proposed) Budget:
95
96
97
98
99 Under the existing contract, the City originally expected to receive an estimated $140,000 annually in
too revenue sharing from Eureka Recycling. However, the volume of recycled materials while strong
tot compared to other municipalities, has remained largely unchanged while the re -sale market for
102 collected materials has proven to be less lucrative than previously estimated. Based on current revenue
103 sharing monies being received, the City should expect only $65,000 - $70,000 in 2015.
104
105 This will require an increase in the fee charged to customers to offset the reduction in revenue sharing.
106
107 Rate Impacts for 2015
108 As noted above, a typical single-family home will pay $169.42 per quarter, or $56.47 per month under
tog the recommended rates. This is a decrease of $0.89 per month from 2014. The following tables
tto provide amore detailed breakdown of the proposed rates.
111
Water Base Rate Cateeory
Single -Family Residential
Single -Family Residential: Senior Discount "
Non -SF Residential (5/8" Meter)
Non -SF Residential (1.0" Meter)
Non -SF Residential (1.5" Meter
Non -SF Residential 4.0"
112 Non -SF Residential 6.0"
113
2014
Rate
$ 54.45
35.40
2014
S Incr. % Incr.
2015(Decrease) (Decrease)
Personnel
$ 36,500
$ 36,500
Supplies & Materials
600
700
Other Services & Charges
30,410
20,410
Contract Pickup
414,000
428,000
1 1.548.00
Total
$ 481,410
$ 485,610 $ 4,200 0.9%
97
98
99 Under the existing contract, the City originally expected to receive an estimated $140,000 annually in
too revenue sharing from Eureka Recycling.
