The applicant should be made aware of the existence of the DNR Wetland and told that any
work that occurs below the Ordinary High Water (OHW) level of wetland (62-158W) is under the
jurisdiction ofthe DNR and may require a DNR permit. Failure to obtain a required permit will result
in the issuing of a cease and desist order for work on the site. The OHW for wetland (62-15 8W) is
not known. If there is work proposed near DNR Wetland (62-158W), then the project designer
should contact the DNR in order to arrange a field inspection to determine the OHW of the wetland.

It is not known whether the site will have stormwater treatment. The DNR recommends that at the
very least, the stormwater trom the site should be treated in a stormwater pond. If possible, other
techniques should be used to reduce the amount of runoff from the site. These techniques may
include using permeable pavements, infiltration techniques and other, similar techniques.

Even though the Federal Emergency Management Agency has not designated a 100-year flood
elevation for the wetland, it should be acknowledged that flooding is possible for structures adjacent
to the wetland. The project engineer for Cave & Associates should be required to calculate the 100-
year flood elevation for the pond and to design structures that are at least I' above that elevation.

Cave & Associates should recognize that there is a residential neighborhood across the wetland rrom
the proposed apartments. In the interest of being good neighbors, Cave & Associates should consider
preserving large trees on the site and planting additional trees in order to screen the view of the
apartments rrom the homes across the wetland. In addition, Cave & Associates should consider other
factors, such as structure design and color, that would soften the visual impact of the apartments on
the adjacent neighborhood.

DNR Information: 651-296-6157 · 1-888-646-6367 · TTY: 651-296-5484 · 1-800-657-3929

An Equal Opportunity Employer
Who Values Diversity

^ Printed on Recycled Paper Containing a
..."
