REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION

Manager Proved:
"!

60-day plan review extension for consideration of a request by Qwest
Wireless for a Conditional Use Permit allowing construction of a 60 foot
monopole with an antenna at Fire Station No.3, 2335 Dale Street
(PF3303)

DATE: 05/14/01
ITEM NO: C-2
Agenda Section:
CONSENT

Item Description:

1.0 BACKGROUND

The Community Development Department has been working with representatives of
Qwest Wireless on their plans to install a 60 foot wireless telecommunication antenna in
the rear yard of Fire Station No.3.

This request requires a conditional use permit under City Code and will need an approved
lease to operate on City property. Leasing of a portion of the Fire Station property and its
terms and conditions has yet to be resolved. Staff suggests that the CUP be continued
until such time as an agreed upon lease can be reached between the City and Qwest
Wireless.

2.0 STAFF RECOMMENDATION

The current deadline for CUP review of the Qwest Wireless request expires on June 9
and the Planning Commission next regularly scheduled meeting is June 13. Given this
time constraint, staff recommends extending the decision deadline for up to 60 days to
August 9, 2001.

3.0 SUGGESTED COUNCIL ACTION

By motion, offer a resolution, to extend the decision deadline for Qwest Wireless and
additional 60 days from June 9 to August 9, 2001, affording staff and Qwest Wireless
time to negotiate a lease agreement.

Prepared by: Thomas Paschke, City Planner

60-Day Schedule: Application accepted on April 10, 2001. Decision deadline is June 9,2001.

RCA (051401) 60-day Extension PF3303 Page 1 of 1
