REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 5/14/01 ITEM NO: Department Approval: Manager Approval: Agenda Section: Report/Recommendation Item Description: livable Communities Demonstration Application Twin lakes Business Park .~ 1. 0 Requested Action 1.1 City staff is requesting authorization for the submission of a grant application under the Metropolitan Livable Communities Demonstration Program for the redevelopment of the Twin Lakes Business Park. 2.0 Backf!round According to Met Council, livable communities are oriented toward a transit and pedestrian friendly environment in neighborhoods with a mix of uses essential to daily life of the residents including housing, workplaces, shops, parks and civic uses. Livable communities foster a sense of place and community, where interaction and participation in the community can occur.
