There are only 36 crematories in the State. The nearest to Roseville is Forest <br />Lawn Cemetery in Map1ewood, which is the only site in Ramsey County. <br />There are eight (8) additional crematories in the Metro area. <br /> <br />. The State Statutes that apply (SSI49A.52) require Crematories to be licensed <br />and meet State Department of Health standards through on-site inspection. <br /> <br />3. In 1999 there were nearly 38,700 deaths in Minnesota, of which 10,950 (28%) <br />were cremations. In 1969 there were 1,622 cremations. <br /> <br />4. Ramsey County cremations increased by nearly 90% from 1990 (799) to 1998 <br />(1,440), an annual rate of over 28%. During the same period, Hennepin <br />County experienced a cremation rate of 31 %. <br /> <br />5. In 1999 a federal EP A evaluation of crematories noted that modern <br />crematories operate well below current emission standards, with emissions <br />near "zero".
