Scientific studies or evidence regarding emissions from crematories <br />dealing with: <br /> <br />1. Artificial hips, other artificial joints or prostheses, and the cements, <br />adhesives, and other materials used in those medical procedures; <br />11. Radioactive implants or devices used in the treatment of cancer or <br />other diseases or dysfunctions. <br /> <br />'I <br />J!. <br />6~ <br /> <br />b. Scientific studies or evidence relating to the impact of crematory <br />emissions on nearby bodies of drinking water, water treatment plants, <br />wetlands, crematory or cemetery employees, or residential areas. <br /> <br />c. Any other scientific studies or evidence bearing on the public health <br />,J effects of crematory emissions. <br />A U#t ~~ <br />~ &u ~ Please ask that the material be presented in chart, table, graph or other visual and <br />~ -ro v{ user-friendly form. In addition, I heard the Council and neighbors ask many questions <br />~..- about the magnitude of the potential health risk from a crematory -- particularly from <br />merc\!!)' and vinyl chloride emissions - so please highlight where possible the <br />L.t?'t'\~: comparative risks of cremation emissions in context with emissi'ons from other <br />sources and the presence of the elements and compounds found in crematory <br />emissions compared to the presence of these elements and compounds naturally in the <br />environment or occurring as by-products of processes other than cremation. <br /> <br />Q City Attorney: Legal research and memorandum regarding <br /> <br />,. <br /> <br />a. The emission standards established by those states that have chosen to <br />create such standards for crematories; ~ <br /> <br />b. Court decisions dealing with the denial or issuance of a conditional use <br />permit (or similar land use review process) for a crematory. <br /> <br />c.
