<br />Th e Pro gIr@m @f A C 1J/JjfNJIJl!1l C([1J/JIrrE (flJ!J1ul/ Orien ([(()JI <br />Medicine <br /> <br />The core curriculum of the AAAOM is designed to be a master's level program. <br />The Program of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is to prepare graduates to <br />competently use acupuncture', Chinese herbal medicine, Tui Na and Oriental <br />dietary therapy and other healing modalities from traditional Chinese medicine <br />to accurately diagnose and effectively treat patients. This program meets the <br />standards that allow students to successfully take the acupuncture, Chinese <br />herbology, and Oriental medicine diplomate exams of the National Commission <br />for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The <br />total curriculum of 2805 hours (159 credits) includes 1560 hours of didactic <br />instruction on acupuncture, herbs and Oriental medicine, 405 hours of <br />bioscience-related material and 840 hours of clinical observation and experience. <br />Within the curriculum, students may emphasize acupuncture, Chinese herbology, <br />and/or Oriental medicine, and they may focus on one or more of areas of <br />specialization in traditional Chinese internal medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, <br />and dennatology. The program runs twelve trimesters, with fifteen weeks per <br />trimester. The maximum time to program completion is eight years.
