<br />Admission Procedures <br /> <br />Admission Policy <br /> <br />To be eligible for admission to the American Academy of Acupuncture and <br />Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), applicants must have completed at least two <br />academic years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of education at the <br />baccalaureate level that is appropriate preparation for graduate level work, or the <br />equivalent (e.g., certification in a medical profession requiring at least the <br />equivalent training of a registered nurse or a physician's assistance) from an <br />institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of <br />Education. Applicants must furnish two letters of recommendation from people <br />who are in a position to evaluate the applicant's general character, academic <br />abilities, perseverance, and detennination to pursue a career in Oriental <br />medicine. <br /> <br />Application <br /> <br />Students may apply for admission at any time of the year, and may begin their <br />studies at the beginning of any trimester. The following documents must be <br />submitted for application: <br /> <br />1. Completed Application for Admission Fonn. <br />2. A letter stating applicant's personal, educational and professional goals, with <br />reasons for wishing to attend the American Academy of Acupuncture and <br />Oriental Medicine. <br />3. Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. <br />In the case of non-English-speaking foreign institutions other than Chinese, <br />a translation of the transcript by an authorized translation service must be <br />submitted in addition to the original transcript. <br />4. Two letters of recommendation. <br />5. As English is the language of instruction for all classes, if the Admissions <br />Committee detennines that an applicant's English language ability may not be <br /> <br />49 <br /> <br />-- <br />
