Manager Approved: 1.0 REQUESTED ACTION 1.1 Gregg and Amy Peterson have requested a variance to increase the height of a fence in their front yard from four feet to six feet. Current Hei ht 5 feet uest Variance Re uested 2 feet 2.0 BACKGROUND 2. I Gregg and Amy Peterson own the home located at 222 North McCarrons. The property is zoned R-I, Single Family Residential District with a Comprehensive Plan Designation of LR, Low Density Residential. 2.2 To the west and south of the Peterson's property are residential homes, to the east is an apartment complex, and to the north (directly across the street) is the Minnesota Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command Center. 2.3 Currently a five-foot tall fence lies in the same general location (front yard property line) as the proposed five foot nine inch fence would be erected. 2.4 The Peterson's are requesting the variance from Section 1012.02B2 of the RosevilIe Zoning Ordinance. Due to the noise levels created from traffic along North McCarrons Boulevard West and that generated from the National Guard facility the Petersons have little privacy and sound screening for their home. 3.0 STAFF COMMENT & FINDINGS 3.1 Section 1012.02B2 of the Roseville City Code requires fences in a front yard to be no greater in height than 48 inches.
