5

Park and Trail Connections

An important feature of the proposed development would be to accommodate pedestrians
from the new development, the College, and the surrounding neighborhood. There are
currently sidewalks along the south side of Lydia, the west side of Linclon Drive, one side
of Terrace Drive (altemating, north and south), and along the frontage road south of County
Road C-2 (Figure 5). A pedestrian connection through the property to connect these existing
sidewalks would be part of the new development, possibly including a trail along the ditch.

..... Existing
Sidewalks

Coll~e PrQperties Proposal

Paul Senbnan, representing College Properties, Inc., and the project architect, Peter Pfister,
presented a more detailed summary of the College proposal, with scale models of potential
layouts. The general plan is illustrated on Figure 6, and would include:

II- Senior housing on the west side of extended Lincoln Drive in three separate
buildings:
- A special care unit for Alzheimer s patients, 36 beds, one-story
- Assisted-living apartments, 90 units, 3-story
- Independent-living aparbnents, 120 to 150 units, 6 to 8 stories

II- A future motel in the southeast comer of the site, 50 to 60 units

II- Student housing in the existing white brick aparbnent building in the northeast
comer of the site

II- A future radio station in the far northeast corner if the College can arrange the
purchase of the existing Simpson auto dealer site
