Police Civil Service Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Monday, 7uly 14, 2014 1:00 pm <br />City Hall Elm Room, 2660 Civic Center Drive <br />Roseville, Minnesota 55113 <br />Commissioners Present: <br />Chairperson Brad VanderVegt, Commissioner Janet Henquinet and Recording Secretary Zoe Jenkins <br />Others Present: <br />Chief Rick Mathwig <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson VanderVegt at 1:05PM. <br />2. The Agenda for today's meeting was reviewed and approved as submitted. <br />3. Janet Henquinet was sworn in as a Police Civil Service Commissioner by Zoe )enkins. <br />4. The minutes of the February 11, 2014, meeting were reviewed and unanimously approved. <br />5. Chief Mathwig reviewed the selection process which resulted in the eligibility list he presented for <br />certification. <br />More than 200 applications were received and invited to take the written test. A scholarship was <br />offered to those unable to pay the fee for the test. The top 72 candidates were then <br />interviewed. 48 were selected from the interview process and invited to additional interviews. <br />Three finalists were selected for certification. One of the three has accepted a position in <br />another community. Two candidates were presented for certification. Chief Mathwig described <br />the qualities of these two candidates. Both individuals bring top skill and talent and either would <br />be an asset to the department. Chief Mathwig and the commissioners were impressed and <br />pleased with the selection process and its ability to select quality personnel. <br />It was moved and seconded to certify the eligibility list of two candidates. <br />6.
