Turning Track Plot

A. The intersection between the line from 3 and the Turning Gircle represents the point from
which to construct the chassis.
5. A line perpendicular to the line from 1 and through the point from 4 represents the WB.
6. A line perpendiCtJlar to the line from 5 and through the point from 4 represents the centerline
of the front axle.

Step 5. Using the turning center (T.G.) as the center, draw a turning circle for the desired chassis points
(bumper outer edge front wheels, fifth wheel pivot center, rear inside edge) to the angle of turn of
interest.

Step 6. At the angle of turn of interest, with the tandem or rear axle centerline on a line projected from the
T .C. and at an angle equal to the angle of interest from the line drawn in Step 4, part c-l, redraw
the chassis.

00

TC

Fifth wheel pivot
center turning
circle

Enter
Turn

Note: a) Assume front wheels turn immediately
to start turn and return immediately to
finish turn
b) This approximate Turning Track Plot
Procedure good for single vehicles up to
35 feet overall length

900

Rear Axle or
Tandem Axle (Bogie)
Centerline (Step 6)

900
leave
turn

Scale: 1 inch

200 inches
