<br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Department Approval: Manager Approved: <br />~ IIMI ;&i;t~ <br />Ite Description: A request by Clinton Freeman, 1296 Woodhill Drive, for a variance to <br />Section 1012.02B2 of the Roseville City Code for allowance ofa fence in <br />a front yard greater than four feet (PF3341). <br /> <br />DATE: 09/24/01 <br />ITEM NO:C-5 <br />Agenda Section: <br />CONSENT <br /> <br />1.0 REQUESTED ACTION <br /> <br />1.1 Mr. Freeman is requesting a variance to Section 1012.02B2 to increase the height ofa <br />fence in his front yard adjacent to Huron Street from four feet to six feet. <br /> <br />Code Requirement <br /> <br />Proposal <br /> <br />Variance <br /> <br />48 inch (four foot) maximum <br />fence height. <br /> <br />Six foot fence <br />height desired <br /> <br />Two feet <br /> <br />2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> <br />3.1 Mr. Freeman owns the home located at 1296 Woodhill Drive. The property is zoned R-l, <br />Single Family Residential District with a Comprehensive Plan Designation of LR, Low <br />Density Residential. <br /> <br />3.2 The Freeman property is surrounded by residential homes on the north, south, east, and <br />west. To the southeast lies Howard Johnson Park. <br /> <br />3.3 Mr. Freeman is requesting the variance from Section 1012.02B2 of the Roseville Zoning <br />Ordinance to increase the height of a fence in a front yard to six feet. The Freeman lot is <br />a comer lot with frontage along Woodhill Drive and Huron Street. <br /> <br />3.4 The Freeman home is addressed offofWoodhill Drive, which under City Code is a side <br />yard. The front yard, as prescribed by the City Code, is that which fronts along Huron <br />Street. In the case of the Freeman's the true front yard is used as a side yard. <br /> <br />3.5 The Freeman's desire privacy and sound screen for their home and would like to <br />construct a six-foot tall fence from their south propeliy line to the home.
