You know the roads well and can have a say in how they are improved over the
years. As the population expands and more job opportunities are created in Roseville,
demands on City roads and highways will increase. The Comprehensive Plan helps the City
think smart and anticipate jobs and housing growth so that roads can expand or change as
needed.

ill
@
@
@
@
@
ill
@l
<III
III
.
@
@
<III
<III
@
@
<III
ill>
ill>
.
@
<III

Many suburbs experience congestion as they
develop and as more people commute
through the community. Roseville too has
seen its roads get pushed to capacity during
rush hours. During peak travel days, more
than 250,000 vehicles pass through
Roseville. The transportation portion of the
Comprehensive Plan has to be creative, since
adding lanes and building new roads is rarely
a viable option in Roseville.

The foundation of the transportation section is public safety - of pedestrians, bikers and
drivers. Hand in hand with safety is efficiency. People want to live in a place that is easy to
navigate, in which neighborhood streets serve local traffic, and arterial streets meet fast~
moving regiona.l tra.ffic needs.

Some of the forward-looking goals of the Comprehensive Plan include planning land uses in
ways that maximize the existing roads without creating congested conditions. The City will
identify and correct problem sites where accidents recur. Expansion of the Roseville transit
hub can tlr';:11sportation more efficient by 'bus services, Depending
upon regional decisions, dedicated bus lanes, busways and light rail may be added to
Roseville's furore transportation mix.

9
