October 20, 1999

Mike Dzaman
Jones, Lang Lasalle
516 South Hanover
Baltimore, MD 21201

A

/

RE: STATUS OF ROSEDALE TRANSIT/PARKING IMPROVEMENTS

Dear Mr. Dzaman:

Over the past few months we have discussed potential improvements to Rosedale to
improve parking and transit services. Recently, Metro Transit submitted an application
for federal transportation funds to assist in the construction of these improvements. A
copy of the submitted application is attached.

As we previously discussed, there has been a significant increase in federal transportation
funds available to the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area - very good news. The bad news is
that there has been a 300% increase in the number of projects competing for these funds.
All projects will be scored and prioritized over the next few months and successful
projects selected by the end of the year. I will update you when more information is
available.

Thank you for your patience and assistance in preparing the initial funding application.
While the competition for funding is significant, this project is a strong one and will help
implement many of the region's objectives. I am cautiously optimistic that our project
application will be successful and look forward to working with you as this project
proceeds.

Sincerely,

Karl P.
