The purpose ofthis narrative is to explain the "hardship" that justifies the need for a code

variance that would allow a sign for our business to be placed on adjacent property.

Our business, The Press Gym, is highly reliant on "drive-by" visibility for it's continued

survival. When we purchased our building in July of2000, we had such visibility, as the

Sunrise Assisted Living Home did not exist. After the Sunrise building was erected we

were disappointed to see that it completely blocked all visibility of our building from

Snelling Avenue. In addition, a six-foot privacy fence was erected mIming the entire

length of the south side of our building, thereby greatly reducing our visibility from

Oakcrest Avenue. We feel that our business has suffered greatly from this lack of

exposure and additional signage on our building would be of little help.

The directors of the Sunrise Assisted Living Home have graciously agreed to permit us

to place a sign on their property, which would allow us to direct potential members and

therefore business to our location. The sign is of a design that is neither detrimental to

the Sunrise property, nor distracting for traffic on Snelling Ave.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
