<br />2. A permit has been issued for the surfacing of a portion of the driveway. This work must be <br />completed before July of 2004. <br />3. The outside storage of building materials and household items has been removed. This <br />item is complete. <br />4. Most of the cut logs and brush have been removed. This item is considered complete. <br />5. The drainage swale along the north property line remains incomplete. It has now been <br />properly dug and \vill divert stom1 water to the front yard and into the storm system, <br />however, in its present state (just a dirt berm with landscape fabric on it) the swale will <br />erode dili and mud onto adjoining property. Mr. Eggessa has been notified that additional <br />work must be performed on this swale. The City recommends that landscape blocks be <br />placed along the propeliy line to a height of approximately 12" to control erosion. <br />6. Vegetation in excess of 8" has been cut. This item is considered complete. <br />2.5 At the 10-13-2003 City Council meeting the Council authorized the Community Development <br />Depmiment to abate code violation #5, if the cost was not to exceed $1,000.00, and assess costs of <br />the work to property taxes. <br />2.6 Community Development Depmiment staff obtained two bids for the work, one bid totaled <br />$2,980.00 and the second bid totaled $1,568.00. With bids over the limit of $1 ,000.00, and due to <br />the cold weather, further work on the abatement was delayed until the spring of 2004. <br />2.7 The propeliy owner did place landscape fabric and woodchips over a portion of the berm, <br />however, the work completed is not considered a permanent repair. Due to the slope of the berm <br />the woodchips, and eventually the dirt, will continue to erode onto the adjoining property (pictures <br />attached). <br /> <br />3.0 SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS: <br /> <br />3.1 Community Development Staffrecommends that the Council approve the abatement of the <br />drainage swale violation (non-compliance with approved building plans - Permit A99-1350) City <br />Code Section 901.01. This would involve the installation of approximately 75' of l' high <br />landscape wall and the removal of approximately 2 yards of dirt from the site. <br />1. Staff has received two bids on this work. One bid totaled $1,568.00 and the other bid <br />totaled $2,980.00.
