<br />NARRATIVE <br /> <br />MY NAME IS MIKE DAVIS AND I MOVED TO 2730 GRIGGS ST. IN APRIL 1994. <br />I HAVE MADE MANY FRIENDS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND PLAN ON STAYING IN <br />MY HOUSE AFTER I RETIRE. I HAVE BEEN A POLICE OFFICER IN ST. PAUL FOR <br />THE LAST 19 Yz YEARS AND AM CURRENTLY ASSIGNED TO THE K-9 UNIT. THIS <br />ENTITLES ME TO A TAKE HOME SQUAD CAR IN WHICH I AM CURRENTLY <br />PARKING IN MY NEIGHBORS DRIVEWAY TO KEEP IT OFF THE STREET. MY <br />CURRENT GARAGE IS A 26X22 FT BUILDING WITH NO ATTIC SPACE FOR <br />STORAGE. IT WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT AS A 1 1/z STALL GARAGE AND AN <br />ADDITIONAL SLAB AND ADDITION WAS ADDED LATER, MAKING IT A 2 Y2 STALL <br />GARAGE. THIS WAS WELL BEFORE I BOUGHT THE HOUSE. <br />THE SLAB IN WHICH IT WAS BUILT UPON WAS NOT BUILT UP HIGH <br />ENOUGH. WHEN IT RAINS OR WHEN THE SNOW MELTS, I HAVE WATER RUNNING <br />INTO THE GARAGE, WHICH THEN FREEZES IF THE WEATHER IS COLD ENOUGH. <br />THE WATER HAS ALREADY CORRODED THE ELECTRICAL WIRES THAT RUN UP <br />THRU THE SLAB. I HAVE HAD TO MAKE REPAIRS TO THE WIRING. <br />THE ORIGINAL SLAB HAD A DRAIN HOLE IN THE MIDDLE. WHATEVER THE <br />BUILDER HAD USED AS A TRAP UNDER THE SLAB HAS DETERIORATED CAUSING <br />THE SOIL UNDER THE DRAIN TO COLLAPSE. THE AREA UNDER THAT PORTION <br />OF THE SLAB IS HOLLOW UNDERNEATH. THIS WILL ONLY CONTINUE TO <br />WEAKEN. <br />THE STUCCO SIDING IS ALSO DETERIORATING, CRACKING AND FALLING <br />OFF. SOME OF THE INNER WOOD HAS ROTTED DUE TO THIS. <br />I AM PROPOSING A 30X34 FT. BUILDING, 1020 SQ. FT., WHICH WILL BE <br />SIMILAR TO THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE. IT WILL PROBABL Y HAVE VINYL <br />SIDING. IT WILL HAVE ATTIC SPACE FOR STORAGE SO I CAN FREE UP MY <br />BASEMENT SPACE. I AM PLANNING ON PARKING MY 2 PERSONAL VEHICLES AND <br />MY SQUAD CAR IN IT. IF I HAVE THE SPACE, I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO BE ABLE TO <br />STORE MY 2 SNOWMOBILES SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO PARK THEM OUTSIDE IN <br />MY YARD. I WOULD ALSO LIKE EXTRA SPACE TO BE ABLE TO PUT MY DOGS <br />HOUSE INSIDE FOR EXTRA SHELTER AND WARMTH. THIS IS ALSO FOR SECURITY <br />FOR MY DOG AND MY SQUAD CAR AS PEOPLE HAVE USED MY YARD TO WALK <br />BACK AND FORTH TO THE SOFTBALL FIELD(VETERANS PARK), THE VFW AND <br />AMOCO STATION.
