The new facility will allow for separate
showroom floors for the Cadillac and Hummer dealerships in order to comply with national
corporate requirements for the business identities, along with additional service requirements of
the Hummer vehicle line.
The construction would consist of the demolition of the existing approximately 9,940 s.f.
canopy and outdoor sales area to the west of the existing showroom. There would be a new
10,043 s.f. Hummer showroom and sales offices built in place of the existing canopy and a 4,800
s. f. service garage addition located on the north side of the existing building, along with a
Hummer "Test Track" to be constructed at the north edge of the existing vehicle storage area.
The showroom addition will be modeled after the national Hummer Image. This Image
along the main (South) fayade will consist of a glass and steel structure with an arched metal roof
as shown in the attached drawings. The square footage and footprint of the new showroom has
been sized and located to have minimum site impact, as it uses almost the same footprint of the
existing canopy area. This allows the site to maintain it's current parking, landscaping and hard
surface features with minimal remodeling and site design.
The service addition would be comprised of rock face concrete masonry units painted to
match the existing building. It will consist of approximately 8 service bays that will be better
equipped to handle the service requirements of the Hummer vehicles. Attaching this addition to
the rear of the building will allow the servicing of all vehicles to continue in the same area of the
site as the present.
The Hummer Test Track will give the opportunity to demonstrate the abilities of the
vehicle to potential buyers. It will allow expanded use of the site while having little impact to the
impervious area. Refer to attached example photos of an existing test track.
Wally McCarthy's Auto Group is also proposing future improvements to the existing
Cadillac portion of the building in order to tie the building into the look and feel of the new addition
and bring it into compliance with the city code. The improvements would be the removal of the
existing deteriorating wood shake shingles and refinishing the mansard roof with a standing seam
metal roof system to allow for a cleaner, more maintenance free finish. In addition to the roof
treatments would be the painting of the existing exterior metal wall panels.
Please refer to the attached drawings and renderings for the project. and feel free to
contact me with any further questions or comments regarding this matter.
