This presentation will state his opposition to a proposed
variance for an addition to 998 Brooks (i.e. Kara Rose). It is
unfortunate that any response in his favor has now been so delayed in
reaching you. Both John and I had given information [i.e. relevant
phone numbers and pertinent mail instruction to allow for the direct
contact of either of us] at the Commission's meeting in hopes of
avoiding a repeat of past notification problems. We indicated that his
mail is not delivered to 2476 Aglen, but rather to P.G.Box 130983,
Roseville Minnesota 55113.

This is to say that John did not have notice of the variance issue
until roughly 4 days prior to the January Planning Commission Meeting,
and then it was discovered as if by accident. This compelled John's
fact gathering effort and culminated with his presence at the January
7th meeting having been without sleep for approximately 30 some hours. John was very
appreciative of the treatment that he received from the
Committee's Chair during the 'break' following the Super America
Liquor-store presentation; It brought home the stark differences of
Social Interactions or 'niceties', and Government Procedures found in
America that he does not observe in the nations which he has recently
worked in. It made him truly appreciate the freedoms we have in
America.

I now find myself in somewhat the same situation that he was in a month
ago. Since he is currently not in position to receive phone-calls or
emails relating to this matter, it falls to me to make that
presentation. Further, I thought the Committee's Chair indicated that
he was seeking a 60 day extension of this variance issue from the
Council. Was I mistaken?

1
