e

e

~

August 4-, 1970

V'Mayor A. Donald Moll
Councilman Cameron D. Anderson
Councilman Thomas J, Curley
Councilman Albert W. Grauel
Councilman Gale Lineburger

Gentlemen:

w~ are directly concerned with the proposed development
by Vie~con Inc., for a number of reasons, most of whi~h in-
volve the quality of life in Roseville. Four years ago, I
established the home office of Total Export, Inc., in Rose-
ville and since have enjoyed the benef~ts of operating a
business in such a progressive community. When ~t came time
for our family to move earlier this year, we naturally chose
Roseville, both because of its proximity to my job and be-
cause there were still some attractive natural areas in this
highly developed community. The enclosed flyer explains the
benefits of such an area much better than I could so I will
not dwell on this point any further.

hnother area of. concern for us is the fact that this
proposed development is to be uuilt ~djacent to our property.
This will result in both a loss of privacy and a reduction in
the value of the land and hous~ we just purchased. The village
code is constructed in such a manner as to protect adjacent
resident1al lando'dners from suffering these consequences, i.e.,
specif1c buffer zones, barriers, etc. Viewcon's proposal
would mlnimize the effect of these regulations through re-
zonlng, (I-l to B-1). Furthermore, as I have traveled through
Roseville, I noted that very cinimun step& have been taken
to fulfill tte lntent of the code. For example, the chain
link fence seoarating Bar-Mar from the adjacent residential
areas.

RosevllJe grew to its eVlsting status becaus' of the fore-
s1ght and .::oncern of its counc..l and per:r.anent residents. nOW-
ev~r, lt 13 now slowly being transfOrMed into a co~unlty in
Wh1Ch a large segment of lts populatlon 15 translent. People
who r.1ove into a COl""J':lUn1ty for a montl~, a year, or even two
years generally make ~ mlnlm~~ contrlbutlon to it. Thus we
are 3g31n sacr1flclnG the qUUllty of l~fe 1n th1S co~~unity
for additlonal COT~erclal developr.1ent.

"~~~
;"1~.
" ,
~ .~
, '^zt
/'(f
"~
I ,,~..,'
11
-> t,'
1
~
, ,
i~\Y
, ~,.9'.
~"II
'~:

.....~::l:-f!~
~~-<.j
"~
, ,.-.:;;
"~,.
~
~

'1
-"f

i
}
::

~
......)
~ ~'J.
~
~
,

~~ :

..
';

:-

i
!
~
