City of Roseville — 2015 Budget
A 10-year cumulative summary of the tax levy increases as compared to the local inflation rate is shown
below. The local inflation rate represents the price increase for a typical household's purchases.
70.0%
60.0%

50.0%
40.0%
30.0%
20.0%
 10.0%
0.0%
2005 - 2014 Cumulative Increase
2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
t % Change in Levy
2010 2011 2012 2013 2014
—F % Change in CPI
Over the past 10 years, the increase in the tax levy has outpaced the inflation rate. This is largely the
result of added capital replacements associated with the construction of a new fire station and park
renewal program. It's also the result of renewed investment in the City's vehicle and equipment
replacement program.
Another benchmark that is oftentimes used is a comparison of local property taxes among comparable
cities. Although the comparison somewhat masks local needs and preferences, it nonetheless provides a
general picture of each City's tax burden.
2014 Local Property Taxes
Municipalitv
Brooklyn Center
Richfield
Savage
Fridley
Maplewood
Inver Grove Heights
Cottage Grove
Andover
Shakopee
Oakdale
Roseville
Shoreview
Ciry
Taxes *
$ 1,594
1,386
1,189
1,044
1,040
1,002
938
932
891
886
863
806
* For cities within the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, serving a population between 25,000 - 45,000; and for a home
valued at $215,000
12
