NORTH rvtETRO I-35W CORRIDOR COALITION
803-5th. Avenue NW '"' -
New Brighton, MN 55112-2792

June 10, 2002

Elizabeth Plater-Zybeck, Dean
School of Architecture
Charles C. Bohl, Director
Knight Program in Community Building
University of Miami
P.O. Box 249178
Coral Gables, FL 33146-5010

Dear Dean Plater-Zybeck and Director Bohl:

It is with pleasure and pride that I write to you in support of the selection of Roseville, Minnesota as the
site for your 2002 fall planning and design event. On behalf of the seven member cities and our partners
in the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition, we would be honored and excited to help facilitate your
event and to make you welcome while you are here.

We speak for the Coalition with pride in our accomplishments in establishing the joint planning
organization, developing an exquisite parcel based plmming database and completion of our Coalition 20
Year Build Out Study. Each of these successes would give you a setting and capacity to conduct an
outstanding community building and design charette. I believe that we can provide a planning platform
that is truly unique and beyond the capacity of any other site you might consider. In turn, the expertise
that your fellows, staff and students would bring would assist us in numerous ways toward
implementation of our study recommendations in Roseville and throughout the Coalition.

The collaborative work of the Coalition has set the stage for each of our member Cities to integrate key
principles of smart grovvth, mixed use design and infrastructure investments to enable us to emerge from
our build out projects with a more livable community of communities. The Roseville efforts to integrate
our study results around the Rosedale Suburban Activity Center are key to the success of the Coalition.
We hope that you \vill select the Roseville site. We will do whatever we can as a Coalition to support
your efforts.

Sincerely,

//,<,-r
/ .
( JJse~{rauss
\--Nice-I resident/Administrator
