Thursday August 2 To: Tom Paschke City Planner - Roseville 2660 Civic Center Drive Roseville, MN 55113 Subject: NO to Check Cashing Business for Tower Glen Shopping Center Dear Representatives for the People of Roseville: Our group speaks as one unified and very concerned voice tonight asking you to deny any license to open a check cashing facility in our Tower Glen Shopping Center. We adamantly are opposed to this kind of business because of the demise that it would lead to here at our currently middle income and upscale Roseville location. We believe the result of the check cashing operation will be a less than desirable group of theft to all of the facilities and vehicles. We also believe that it will drive away the regular users of this fine Roseville shopping center (many of them senior citizens) so we are very concerned about how it will lead in several ways to the detraction of your public space and decrease the value of our businesses in a very real way. Many of the tenants in this building are thinking about taking their business out of this shopping center if this check cashing business follows through. We think that a check cashing facility is not a suitable business or fit to have in this shopping community. This is similar to the situation that happened in District 9 in St. Paul, at Hillcrest Shopping Center the same type of business was looking to be opened there, and the current tenants of the area convinced the city council to ask them to go elsewhere. It is really important that our current customers feel comfortable in this shopping center, as they are whom we are here for. WE ASK THAT YOU VOTE "FOR" OUR ROSEVILLE COMMUNITY AND SAY "NO" TO THE CHECK CASHING LICENSE APPLICATION. Thal ~ou, ~.
