City Council Action: June 16, 2003 2.0 SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS: 2.1 The Community Development Staff cannot recommend issuance a permit for this case (except an Interim Use Permit) because the City Code does not permit re-establishment or expansion of a pre-existing non-conforming use issue. 3.0 PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION: 3.1 On June 4, 2003, the Planning Commission recommended denial of the appeal to the Council to allow a non-permitted use (truck parking) to expand to a B-6 zoned parcel owned by Western Resources with tenant Watkins Trucking located at 2560 Long Lake Road. By a vote of 5-1, the Planning Commission did recommend approval of an interim use permit to allow stora2:e and use of the site for seasonal and peak period trailer stora2:e. 4.0 SUGGESTED COUNCIL ACTION: By resolution, approve of the issuance of a 5 year Interim Use Permit to Western Resources and Watkins Trucking, 2650 Long Lake Road, subject to interim use standards for interim use parking, which include a grading plan and proper drainage; packed, dustless gravel; fencing, landscaping screening, ponding as needed, and lighting. The applicant may request the Council to consider renewing the permit during the last 120 days of the 5 year permit; the Interim Use Permit to be subject to review by the City Attorney as to form and content.
