<br /> <br /> <br />3 to renew <br />4 expand their existing Interim Use Permit allowing an additional temporary <br />5 classroom facility at Advent Lutheran Church, 3000 Hamline Avenue for a period <br />6 of one year. <br />7 <br />8 Chair Mulder opened the hearing and requested City Planner Thomas Paschke to present <br />9 the verbal summary of the staff report dated July 2004. <br />10 <br />11 Thomas Paschke advised that Family Academy is seeking approval to renew and expand <br />12 their current Interim Use Permit granted by the City Council on June 17,2002. The <br />13 proposal would expand the use on the site for an additional 82 foot by 56 foot temporary <br />14 classroom facility to be placed east of the existing temporary classroom facility and south <br />15 of the temporary office and east parking lot. The proposal also seeks to extend the <br />16 current Interim Use Permit for a period of one year from September 25,2004 to <br />17 September 24,2005. Staff recommended approval with conditions. <br />18 <br />19 Member Bakeman asked if conditions for prior permits on this site are consistent with the <br />20 proposal. <br />21 <br />22 Chair Mulder asked if sprinklered facilities are required in a temporary facility (no). <br />23 <br />24 Member Bakeman asked what age children will be in the facility and where the restroom <br />25 facilities will be located. Ann Hennesy, Director of Family Academy, explained that the <br />26 need for space (over 200 students) relates to library and other space. Hours of operation <br />27 will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for 2004/2005. Member Bakeman asked for details of <br />28 facilities routing to the bathrooms. <br />29 <br />30 Chair Mulder asked if the school will remain for more than one year (not sure). This is <br />31 the fifth year of operation on the site. At some point, this temporary situation must come <br />32 to an end. A firm plan will be made for next year and years beyond. <br />33 <br />34 Rose Mossan asked if the Academy would be pre-school to 9th, or include 10th through <br />35 lih grades as well. <br />36 <br />37 Stuart Swiff, 1253 Josephine Road, asked how long is "interim" and invited more <br />38 comment from residents on Josephine Road. Neighbors do not want the interim school in <br />39 this location for five more years.
